The arrival of a brand new Super Mario Bros. movie should have been something to get excited about, but last year the biggest take-away from the announcement that the intrepid plumber would be getting a shiny new outing courtesy of Illumination and Universal Pictures was overshadowed by backlash over Chris Pratt’s casting as the voice of Mario.
