While Halle Bailey was able to bring her voices to the new incarnation of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, the physical transformation into becoming the character took a bit of help. The head of the film's hair department was Camille Friend, whose other recent credits include working on the high-budget superhero movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Christopher Nolan's last film Tenet. With The Little Mermaid, Friend was tasked with giving Halle Bailey a new hairstyle that was reminiscent of the animated Ariel while simultaneously bringing something new to the reimagined mermaid.
