Civil War’s “B-” CinemaScore did little to stop the dystopian drama from dominating the domestic box office during its debut. Writer/director Alex Garland’s film not only marked the biggest opening ever for A24, but it also dethroned Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to win the weekend. Civil War made an estimated $25.7 million (per The Numbers) to land the No. 1 spot.
